Paul Deen BLT Appetizer Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup mayonnaise
1 cup sour cream
Iceberg lettuce, shredded
2 large vine-ripe tomatoes, chopped
1 pound lean bacon, cooked crisp and crumbled
Sea salt bagel chips

Directions

Combine the mayonnaise and sour cream in a small bowl with a snap-on lid. When well mixed, refrigerate until serving time. When ready to serve, place the mayonnaise mixture in a large serving bowl. Top with the lettuce, tomatoes and bacon. Serve with bagel chips.

Yield: 8 servings

Paula Deen Plantation Grits

Ingredients

2 cups water
1 1/4 cups milk
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup quick cooking grits (not instant)
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter

Directions

In a small pot, bring the water, milk, and salt to a boil. Slowly stir the grits into the boiling mixture. Stir continuously and thoroughly until grits are well mixed.

Let the pot return to a boil, cover with a lid, lower the temperature, and cook for approximately 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add more water if necessary.

Plantation Grits are done when they have the consistency of smooth cream of wheat. Stir in the butter and serve.

_______________________________________ Grits On A Stick Recipe GRITS STICKS (FRIES) (Grits On A Stick) 3 cups reduced sodium chicken broth (water may be used) 1 cup yellow grits (white may be used) 1 cup heavy cream 1 cup grated cheese of your choice Bring chicken broth to a boil, then slowly whisk in the grits. (Do this slowly and gently so you do not have any clumps). Whisk for a minute, then reduce heat to low, cover and cook for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Whisk in the heavy cream and cheese at the end of the cooking time, until the cheese is melted. Remove from heat and pour into a lightly greased 9x9 pan. Allow to cool completely, then cover and refrigerate overnight or at least four hours. Remove the grits from the refrigerator and preheat your oven to 425. Cut the grits into "sticks" and place on a lightly greased, foil lined cookie sheet. Cut the grit sticks about 1" by 3" or whatever works for you. Bake for 10 minutes, then with a spatula, flip the sticks, and bake for another 10 minutes, or until crisp. Insert Bamboo Skewer Stick into the 1" by 3" grit sticks about and inch with at least a couple of inches sticking out at the bottom to hold your grits on a stick when eating. Bamboo sticks come in a 10" size so cut them in thirds to insert into your grit on a stick. Cost of bamboo sitcks is only $2.88 for 100 pieces. 100 bamboo pieces cut into thirds means you can make 300 grits on a stick in the future. Enjoy! www.anycalculator.com/gritscalculator.html
